1 TIMOTHY CHAPTER 4
Latin Vulgate | Greek Textus Receptus | English King James |
---|---|---|
1 Timothy 4:1 Spiritus autem manifeste dicit, quia in novissimis temporibus discedent quidam a fide, attendentes spiritibus erroris, et doctrinis dæmoniorum, | 1 Timothy 4:1 τὸ δὲ πνεῦμα ῥητῶς λέγει ὅτι ἐν ὑστέροις καιροῖς ἀποστήσονταί τινες τῆς πίστεως προσέχοντες πνεύμασιν πλάνοις καὶ διδασκαλίαις δαιμονίων | 1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; |
4:2 in hypocrisi loquentium mendacium, et cauteriatam habentium suam conscientiam, | 4:2 ἐν ὑποκρίσει ψευδολόγων κεκαυτηριασμένων τὴν ἰδίαν συνείδησιν | 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; |
| 4:3 κωλυόντων γαμεῖν ἀπέχεσθαι βρωμάτων ἃ ὁ θεὸς ἔκτισεν εἰς μετάληψιν μετὰ εὐχαριστίας τοῖς πιστοῖς καὶ ἐπεγνωκόσιν τὴν ἀλήθειαν | 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. |
4:4 Quia omnis creatura Dei bona est, et nihil rejiciendum quod cum gratiarum actione percipitur: | 4:4 ὅτι πᾶν κτίσμα θεοῦ καλόν καὶ οὐδὲν ἀπόβλητον μετὰ εὐχαριστίας λαμβανόμενον | 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: |
4:5 sanctificatur enim per verbum Dei, et orationem. | 4:5 ἁγιάζεται γὰρ διὰ λόγου θεοῦ καὶ ἐντεύξεως | 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. |
4:6 Hæc proponens fratribus, bonus eris minister Christi Jesu enutritus verbis fidei, et bonæ doctrinæ, quam assecutus es. | 4:6 ταῦτα ὑποτιθέμενος τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς καλὸς ἔσῃ διάκονος ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ ἐντρεφόμενος τοῖς λόγοις τῆς πίστεως καὶ τῆς καλῆς διδασκαλίας ᾗ παρηκολούθηκας | 4:6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. |
| 4:7 τοὺς δὲ βεβήλους καὶ γραώδεις μύθους παραιτοῦ γύμναζε δὲ σεαυτὸν πρὸς εὐσέβειαν | 4:7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. |
| 4:8 ἡ γὰρ σωματικὴ γυμνασία πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶν ὠφέλιμος ἡ δὲ εὐσέβεια πρὸς πάντα ὠφέλιμός ἐστιν ἐπαγγελίαν ἔχουσα ζωῆς τῆς νῦν καὶ τῆς μελλούσης | 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. |
4:9 Fidelis sermo, et omni acceptione dignus. | 4:9 πιστὸς ὁ λόγος καὶ πάσης ἀποδοχῆς ἄξιος | 4:9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. |
| 1 Timothy 4:10 εἰς τοῦτο γὰρ καὶ κοπιῶμεν καὶ ὀνειδιζόμεθα ὅτι ἠλπίκαμεν ἐπὶ θεῷ ζῶντι ὅς ἐστιν σωτὴρ πάντων ἀνθρώπων μάλιστα πιστῶν | 1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. |
4:11 Præcipe hæc, et doce. | 4:11 παράγγελλε ταῦτα καὶ δίδασκε | 4:11 These things command and teach. |
4:12 Nemo adolescentiam tuam contemnat: sed exemplum esto fidelium in verbo, in conversatione, in caritate, in fide, in castitate. | 4:12 μηδείς σου τῆς νεότητος καταφρονείτω ἀλλὰ τύπος γίνου τῶν πιστῶν ἐν λόγῳ ἐν ἀναστροφῇ ἐν ἀγάπῃ ἐν πνεύματι ἐν πίστει ἐν ἁγνείᾳ | 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. |
4:13 Dum venio, attende lectioni, exhortationi, et doctrinæ. | 4:13 ἕως ἔρχομαι πρόσεχε τῇ ἀναγνώσει τῇ παρακλήσει τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ | 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. |
| 4:14 μὴ ἀμέλει τοῦ ἐν σοὶ χαρίσματος ὃ ἐδόθη σοι διὰ προφητείας μετὰ ἐπιθέσεως τῶν χειρῶν τοῦ πρεσβυτερίου | 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. |
4:15 Hæc meditare, in his esto: ut profectus tuus manifestus sit omnibus. | 4:15 ταῦτα μελέτα ἐν τούτοις ἴσθι ἵνα σου ἡ προκοπὴ φανερὰ ᾖ ἐν πᾶσιν | 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. |
| 4:16 ἔπεχε σεαυτῷ καὶ τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ ἐπίμενε αὐτοῖς τοῦτο γὰρ ποιῶν καὶ σεαυτὸν σώσεις καὶ τοὺς ἀκούοντάς σου | 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. |
