2 TIMOTHY CHAPTER 4

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
2 Timothy 4:1 Testificor coram Deo, et Jesu Christo, qui judicaturus est vivos et mortuos, per adventum ipsius, et regnum ejus: 2 Timothy 4:1 διαμαρτύρομαι οὖν ἐγὼ ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τοῦ κυρίου ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ τοῦ μέλλοντος κρίνειν ζῶντας καὶ νεκρούς κατὰ τὴν ἐπιφάνειαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτοῦ 2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
4:2 prædica verbum, insta opportune, importune: argue, obsecra, increpa in omni patientia, et doctrina. 4:2 κήρυξον τὸν λόγον ἐπίστηθι εὐκαίρως ἀκαίρως ἔλεγξον ἐπιτίμησον παρακάλεσον ἐν πάσῃ μακροθυμίᾳ καὶ διδαχῇ 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
4:3 Erit enim tempus, cum sanam doctrinam non sustinebunt, sed ad sua desideria coacervabunt sibi magistros, prurientes auribus, 4:3 ἔσται γὰρ καιρὸς ὅτε τῆς ὑγιαινούσης διδασκαλίας οὐκ ἀνέξονται ἀλλὰ κατὰ τὰς ἐπιθυμίας τὰς ἰδίας ἑαυτοῖς ἐπισωρεύσουσιν διδασκάλους κνηθόμενοι τὴν ἀκοήν 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4:4 et a veritate quidem auditum avertent, ad fabulas autem convertentur. 4:4 καὶ ἀπὸ μὲν τῆς ἀληθείας τὴν ἀκοὴν ἀποστρέψουσιν ἐπὶ δὲ τοὺς μύθους ἐκτραπήσονται 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
4:5 Tu vero vigila, in omnibus labora, opus fac evangelistæ, ministerium tuum imple. Sobrius esto. 4:5 σὺ δὲ νῆφε ἐν πᾶσιν κακοπάθησον ἔργον ποίησον εὐαγγελιστοῦ τὴν διακονίαν σου πληροφόρησον 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
4:6 Ego enim jam delibor, et tempus resolutionis meæ instat. 4:6 ἐγὼ γὰρ ἤδη σπένδομαι καὶ ὁ καιρὸς τῆς ἐμῆς ἀναλύσεώς ἐφέστηκεν 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
4:7 Bonum certamen certavi, cursum consummavi, fidem servavi. 4:7 τὸν ἀγῶνα τὸν καλὸν ἠγώνισμαι τὸν δρόμον τετέλεκα τὴν πίστιν τετήρηκα 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
4:8 In reliquo reposita est mihi corona justitiæ, quam reddet mihi Dominus in illa die, justus judex: non solum autem mihi, sed et iis, qui diligunt adventum ejus. 4:8 λοιπὸν ἀπόκειταί μοι ὁ τῆς δικαιοσύνης στέφανος ὃν ἀποδώσει μοι ὁ κύριος ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ὁ δίκαιος κριτής οὐ μόνον δὲ ἐμοὶ ἀλλὰ καὶ πάσιν τοῖς ἠγαπηκόσιν τὴν ἐπιφάνειαν αὐτοῦ 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
4:9Festina ad me venire cito. 4:9 σπούδασον ἐλθεῖν πρός με ταχέως 4:9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
2 Timothy 4:10 Demas enim me reliquit, diligens hoc sæculum, et abiit Thessalonicam: Crescens in Galatiam, Titus in Dalmatiam. 2 Timothy 4:10 δημᾶς γάρ με ἐγκατέλιπεν ἀγαπήσας τὸν νῦν αἰῶνα καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς θεσσαλονίκην κρήσκης εἰς γαλατίαν τίτος εἰς δαλματίαν 2 Timothy 4:10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
4:11 Lucas est mecum solus. Marcum assume, et adduc tecum: est enim mihi utilis in ministerium. 4:11 λουκᾶς ἐστιν μόνος μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ μᾶρκον ἀναλαβὼν ἄγε μετὰ σεαυτοῦ ἔστιν γάρ μοι εὔχρηστος εἰς διακονίαν 4:11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
4:12 Tychicum autem misi Ephesum. 4:12 τυχικὸν δὲ ἀπέστειλα εἰς ἔφεσον 4:12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
4:13 Penulam, quam reliqui Troade apud Carpum, veniens affer tecum, et libros, maxime autem membranas. 4:13 τὸν φαιλόνην ὃν ἀπέλιπον ἐν τρῳάδι παρὰ κάρπῳ ἐρχόμενος φέρε καὶ τὰ βιβλία μάλιστα τὰς μεμβράνας 4:13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
4:14 Alexander ærarius multa mala mihi ostendit: reddet illi Dominus secundum opera ejus: 4:14 ἀλέξανδρος ὁ χαλκεὺς πολλά μοι κακὰ ἐνεδείξατο ἀποδῴη αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος κατὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ 4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
4:15 quem et tu devita: valde enim restitit verbis nostris. 4:15 ὃν καὶ σὺ φυλάσσου λίαν γὰρ ἀνθέστηκεν τοῖς ἡμετέροις λόγοις 4:15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
4:16 In prima mea defensione nemo mihi affuit, sed omnes me dereliquerunt: non illis imputetur. 4:16 ἐν τῇ πρώτῃ μου ἀπολογίᾳ οὐδείς μοι συμπαρεγένετο ἀλλὰ πάντες με ἐγκατέλιπον μὴ αὐτοῖς λογισθείη 4:16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
4:17 Dominus autem mihi astitit, et confortavit me, ut per me prædicatio impleatur, et audiant omnes gentes: et liberatus sum de ore leonis. 4:17 ὁ δὲ κύριός μοι παρέστη καὶ ἐνεδυνάμωσέν με ἵνα δι᾽ ἐμοῦ τὸ κήρυγμα πληροφορηθῇ καὶ ἀκούσῃ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη καὶ ἐῤῥύσθην ἐκ στόματος λέοντος 4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
4:18 Liberavit me Dominus ab omni opere malo: et salvum faciet in regnum suum cæleste, cui gloria in sæcula sæculorum. Amen. 4:18 καὶ ῥύσεταί με ὁ κύριος ἀπὸ παντὸς ἔργου πονηροῦ καὶ σώσει εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτοῦ τὴν ἐπουράνιον ᾧ ἡ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων ἀμήν 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
4:19 Saluta Priscam, et Aquilam, et Onesiphori domum. 4:19 ἄσπασαι πρίσκαν καὶ ἀκύλαν καὶ τὸν ὀνησιφόρου οἶκον 4:19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
2 Timothy 4:20 Erastus remansit Corinthi. Trophimum autem reliqui infirmum Mileti. 2 Timothy 4:20 ἔραστος ἔμεινεν ἐν κορίνθῳ τρόφιμον δὲ ἀπέλιπον ἐν μιλήτῳ ἀσθενοῦντα 2 Timothy 4:20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
4:21 Festina ante hiemem venire. Salutant te Eubulus, et Pudens, et Linus, et Claudia, et fratres omnes. 4:21 σπούδασον πρὸ χειμῶνος ἐλθεῖν ἀσπάζεταί σε εὔβουλος καὶ πούδης καὶ λίνος καὶ κλαυδία καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ πάντες 4:21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
4:22 Dominus Jesus Christus cum spiritu tuo. Gratia vobiscum. Amen. 4:22 ὁ κύριος ἰησοῦς χριστὸς μετὰ τοῦ πνεύματός σου ἡ χάρις μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν ἀμήν 4:22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
