EPHESIANS CHAPTER 5
Latin Vulgate | Greek Textus Receptus | English King James |
---|---|---|
Ephesians 5:1 Estote ergo imitatores Dei, sicut filii carissimi, | Ephesians 5:1 γίνεσθε οὖν μιμηταὶ τοῦ θεοῦ ὡς τέκνα ἀγαπητά | Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; |
| 5:2 καὶ περιπατεῖτε ἐν ἀγάπῃ καθὼς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς ἠγάπησεν ἡμᾶς καὶ παρέδωκεν ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν προσφορὰν καὶ θυσίαν τῷ θεῷ εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας | 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. |
5:3 Fornicatio autem, et omnis immunditia, aut avaritia, nec nominetur in vobis, sicut decet sanctos: | 5:3 πορνεία δὲ καὶ πᾶσα ἀκαθαρσία ἢ πλεονεξία μηδὲ ὀνομαζέσθω ἐν ὑμῖν καθὼς πρέπει ἁγίοις | 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; |
| 5:4 καὶ αἰσχρότης καὶ μωρολογία ἢ εὐτραπελία τὰ οὐκ ἀνήκοντα ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εὐχαριστία | 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. |
| 5:5 τοῦτο γὰρ ἔστε γινώσκοντες ὅτι πᾶς πόρνος ἢ ἀκάθαρτος ἢ πλεονέκτης ὅς ἐστιν εἰδωλολάτρης οὐκ ἔχει κληρονομίαν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ χριστοῦ καὶ θεοῦ | 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. |
5:6 Nemo vos seducat inanibus verbis: propter hæc enim venit ira Dei in filios diffidentiæ. | 5:6 μηδεὶς ὑμᾶς ἀπατάτω κενοῖς λόγοις διὰ ταῦτα γὰρ ἔρχεται ἡ ὀργὴ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῆς ἀπειθείας | 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. |
5:7 Nolite ergo effici participes eorum. | 5:7 μὴ οὖν γίνεσθε συμμέτοχοι αὐτῶν | 5:7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. |
Ut filii lucis ambulate: | 5:8 ἦτε γάρ ποτε σκότος νῦν δὲ φῶς ἐν κυρίῳ ὡς τέκνα φωτὸς περιπατεῖτε | 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: |
5:9 fructus enim lucis est in omni bonitate, et justitia, et veritate: | 5:9 ὁ γὰρ καρπὸς τοῦ πνεύματος ἐν πάσῃ ἀγαθωσύνῃ καὶ δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἀληθείᾳ | 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) |
Ephesians 5:10 probantes quid sit beneplacitum Deo: | Ephesians 5:10 δοκιμάζοντες τί ἐστιν εὐάρεστον τῷ κυρίῳ | Ephesians 5:10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. |
| 5:11 καὶ μὴ συγκοινωνεῖτε τοῖς ἔργοις τοῖς ἀκάρποις τοῦ σκότους μᾶλλον δὲ καὶ ἐλέγχετε | 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. |
| 5:12 τὰ γὰρ κρυφῇ γινόμενα ὑπ᾽ αὐτῶν αἰσχρόν ἐστιν καὶ λέγειν | 5:12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. |
| 5:13 τὰ δὲ πάντα ἐλεγχόμενα ὑπὸ τοῦ φωτὸς φανεροῦται πᾶν γάρ τό φανερούμενον φῶς ἐστίν | 5:13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. |
| 5:14 διὸ λέγει ἕγειραι ὁ καθεύδων καὶ ἀνάστα ἐκ τῶν νεκρῶν καὶ ἐπιφαύσει σοι ὁ χριστός | 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. |
5:15 Videte itaque, fratres, quomodo caute ambuletis: non quasi insipientes, | 5:15 βλέπετε οὖν πῶς ἀκριβῶς περιπατεῖτε μὴ ὡς ἄσοφοι ἀλλ᾽ ὡς σοφοί | 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, |
| 5:16 ἐξαγοραζόμενοι τὸν καιρόν ὅτι αἱ ἡμέραι πονηραί εἰσιν | 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. |
| 5:17 διὰ τοῦτο μὴ γίνεσθε ἄφρονες ἀλλὰ συνιέντες τί τὸ θέλημα τοῦ κυρίου | 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. |
5:18 Et nolite inebriari vino, in quo est luxuria, sed implemini Spiritu Sancto, | 5:18 καὶ μὴ μεθύσκεσθε οἴνῳ ἐν ᾧ ἐστιν ἀσωτία ἀλλὰ πληροῦσθε ἐν πνεύματι | 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; |
5:19 loquentes vobismetipsis in psalmis, et hymnis, et canticis spiritualibus, cantantes et psallentes in cordibus vestris Domino, | 5:19 λαλοῦντες ἑαυτοῖς ψαλμοῖς καὶ ὕμνοις καὶ ᾠδαῖς πνευματικαῖς ᾄδοντες καὶ ψάλλοντες ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν τῷ κυρίῳ | 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; |
Ephesians 5:20 gratias agentes semper pro omnibus in nomine Domini nostri Jesu Christi Deo et Patri, | Ephesians 5:20 εὐχαριστοῦντες πάντοτε ὑπὲρ πάντων ἐν ὀνόματι τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ τῷ θεῷ καὶ πατρί | Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; |
5:21 subjecti invicem in timore Christi. | 5:21 ὑποτασσόμενοι ἀλλήλοις ἐν φόβῳ θεοῦ | 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. |
5:22 Mulieres viris suis subditæ sint, sicut Domino: | 5:22 αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ὑποτάσσεσθε ὡς τῷ κυρίῳ | 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. |
5:23 quoniam vir caput est mulieris, sicut Christus caput est Ecclesiæ: ipse, salvator corporis ejus. | 5:23 ὅτι ὁ ἀνήρ ἐστιν κεφαλὴ τῆς γυναικὸς ὡς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς κεφαλὴ τῆς ἐκκλησίας καὶ αὐτὸς ἐστίν σωτὴρ τοῦ σώματος | 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. |
| 5:24 ἀλλ᾽ ὡσπερ ἡ ἐκκλησία ὑποτάσσεται τῷ χριστῷ οὕτως καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ἐν παντί | 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. |
5:25 Viri, diligite uxores vestras, sicut et Christus dilexit Ecclesiam, et seipsum tradidit pro ea, | 5:25 οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαπᾶτε τὰς γυναῖκας ἑαυτῶν καθὼς καὶ ὁ χριστὸς ἠγάπησεν τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ ἑαυτὸν παρέδωκεν ὑπὲρ αὐτῆς | 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; |
5:26 ut illam sanctificaret, mundans lavacro aquæ in verbo vitæ, | 5:26 ἵνα αὐτὴν ἁγιάσῃ καθαρίσας τῷ λουτρῷ τοῦ ὕδατος ἐν ῥήματι | 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, |
| 5:27 ἵνα παραστήσῃ αὐτὴν ἑαυτῷ ἔνδοξον τὴν ἐκκλησίαν μὴ ἔχουσαν σπίλον ἢ ῥυτίδα ἤ τι τῶν τοιούτων ἀλλ᾽ ἵνα ᾖ ἁγία καὶ ἄμωμος | 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. |
| 5:28 οὕτως ὀφείλουσιν οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαπᾶν τὰς ἑαυτῶν γυναῖκας ὡς τὰ ἑαυτῶν σώματα ὁ ἀγαπῶν τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γυναῖκα ἑαυτὸν ἀγαπᾷ | 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. |
5:29 Nemo enim umquam carnem suam odio habuit: sed nutrit et fovet eam, sicut et Christus Ecclesiam: | 5:29 οὐδεὶς γάρ ποτε τὴν ἑαυτοῦ σάρκα ἐμίσησεν ἀλλ᾽ ἐκτρέφει καὶ θάλπει αὐτήν καθὼς καὶ ὁ κύριος τὴν ἐκκλησίαν | 5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: |
| Ephesians 5:30 ὅτι μέλη ἐσμὲν τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς σαρκός αὐτοῦ καί ἐκ τῶν ὀστέων αὐτοῦ | Ephesians 5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. |
| 5:31 ἀντὶ τούτου καταλείψει ἄνθρωπος τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ προσκολληθήσεται πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσονται οἱ δύο εἰς σάρκα μίαν | 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. |
| 5:32 τὸ μυστήριον τοῦτο μέγα ἐστίν ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω εἰς χριστὸν καὶ εἰς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν | 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. |
5:33 Verumtamen et vos singuli, unusquisque uxorem suam sicut seipsum diligat: uxor autem timeat virum suum. | 5:33 πλὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς οἱ καθ᾽ ἕνα ἕκαστος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γυναῖκα οὕτως ἀγαπάτω ὡς ἑαυτόν ἡ δὲ γυνὴ ἵνα φοβῆται τὸν ἄνδρα | 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. |
