PHILIPPIANS CHAPTER 3

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Philippians 3:1 De cetero, fratres mei, gaudete in Domino. Eadem vobis scribere, mihi quidem non pigrum, vobis autem necessarium. Philippians 3:1 τὸ λοιπόν ἀδελφοί μου χαίρετε ἐν κυρίῳ τὰ αὐτὰ γράφειν ὑμῖν ἐμοὶ μὲν οὐκ ὀκνηρόν ὑμῖν δὲ ἀσφαλές Philippians 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
3:2 Videte canes, videte malos operarios, videte concisionem. 3:2 βλέπετε τοὺς κύνας βλέπετε τοὺς κακοὺς ἐργάτας βλέπετε τὴν κατατομήν 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
3:3 Nos enim sumus circumcisio, qui spiritu servimus Deo, et gloriamur in Christo Jesu, et non in carne fiduciam habentes, 3:3 ἡμεῖς γάρ ἐσμεν ἡ περιτομή οἱ πνεύματι φεῷ λατρεύοντες καὶ καυχώμενοι ἐν χριστῷ ἰησοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐν σαρκὶ πεποιθότες 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
3:4 quamquam ego habeam confidentiam et in carne. Si quis alius videtur confidere in carne, ego magis, 3:4 καίπερ ἐγὼ ἔχων πεποίθησιν καὶ ἐν σαρκί εἴ τις δοκεῖ ἄλλος πεποιθέναι ἐν σαρκί ἐγὼ μᾶλλον 3:4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
3:5 circumcisus octavo die, ex genere Israël, de tribu Benjamin, Hebræus ex Hebræis, secundum legem pharisæus, 3:5 περιτομῇ ὀκταήμερος ἐκ γένους ἰσραήλ φυλῆς βενιαμίν ἑβραῖος ἐξ ἑβραίων κατὰ νόμον φαρισαῖος 3:5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
3:6 secundum æmulationem persequens Ecclesiam Dei, secundum justitiam, quæ in lege est, conversatus sine querela. 3:6 κατὰ ζῆλον διώκων τὴν ἐκκλησίαν κατὰ δικαιοσύνην τὴν ἐν νόμῳ γενόμενος ἄμεμπτος 3:6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
3:7 Sed quæ mihi fuerunt lucra, hæc arbitratus sum propter Christum detrimenta. 3:7 ἀλλ᾽ ἅτινα ἦν μοι κέρδη ταῦτα ἥγημαι διὰ τὸν χριστὸν ζημίαν 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
3:8 Verumtamen existimo omnia detrimentum esse propter eminentem scientiam Jesu Christi Domini mei: propter quem omnia detrimentum feci, et arbitror ut stercora, ut Christum lucrifaciam, 3:8 ἀλλὰ μενοῦνγε καὶ ἡγοῦμαι πάντα ζημίαν εἶναι διὰ τὸ ὑπερέχον τῆς γνώσεως χριστοῦ ἰησοῦ τοῦ κυρίου μου δι᾽ ὃν τὰ πάντα ἐζημιώθην καὶ ἡγοῦμαι σκύβαλα εἶναι ἵνα χριστὸν κερδήσω 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
3:9 et inveniar in illo non habens meam justitiam, quæ ex lege est, sed illam, quæ ex fide est Christi Jesu: quæ ex Deo est justitia in fide, 3:9 καὶ εὑρεθῶ ἐν αὐτῷ μὴ ἔχων ἐμὴν δικαιοσύνην τὴν ἐκ νόμου ἀλλὰ τὴν διὰ πίστεως χριστοῦ τὴν ἐκ θεοῦ δικαιοσύνην ἐπὶ τῇ πίστει 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Philippians 3:10 ad cognoscendum illum, et virtutem resurrectionis ejus, et societatem passionum illius: configuratus morti ejus: Philippians 3:10 τοῦ γνῶναι αὐτὸν καὶ τὴν δύναμιν τῆς ἀναστάσεως αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν κοινωνίαν τῶν παθημάτων αὐτοῦ συμμορφούμενος τῷ θανάτῳ αὐτοῦ Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
3:11 si quo modo occurram ad resurrectionem, quæ est ex mortuis: 3:11 εἴ πως καταντήσω εἰς τὴν ἐξανάστασιν τῶν νεκρῶν 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
3:12 non quod jam acceperim, aut jam perfectus sim: sequor autem, si quomodo comprehendam in quo et comprehensus sum a Christo Jesu. 3:12 οὐχ ὅτι ἤδη ἔλαβον ἢ ἤδη τετελείωμαι διώκω δὲ εἰ καὶ καταλάβω ἐφ᾽ ᾧ καὶ κατελήφθην ὑπὸ τοῦ χριστοῦ ἰησοῦ 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also i am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
3:13 Fratres, ego me non arbitror comprehendisse. Unum autem, quæ quidem retro sunt obliviscens, ad ea vero quæ sunt priora, extendens meipsum, 3:13 ἀδελφοί ἐγὼ ἐμαυτὸν οὐ λογίζομαι κατειληφέναι ἓν δέ τὰ μὲν ὀπίσω ἐπιλανθανόμενος τοῖς δὲ ἔμπροσθεν ἐπεκτεινόμενος 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
3:14 ad destinatum persequor, ad bravium supernæ vocationis Dei in Christo Jesu. 3:14 κατὰ σκοπὸν διώκω ἐπὶ τὸ βραβεῖον τῆς ἄνω κλήσεως τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν χριστῷ ἰησοῦ 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
3:15 Quicumque ergo perfecti sumus, hoc sentiamus: et si quid aliter sapitis, et hoc vobis Deus revelabit. 3:15 ὅσοι οὖν τέλειοι τοῦτο φρονῶμεν καὶ εἴ τι ἑτέρως φρονεῖτε καὶ τοῦτο ὁ θεὸς ὑμῖν ἀποκαλύψει 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
3:16 Verumtamen ad quod pervenimus ut idem sapiamus, et in eadem permaneamus regula. 3:16 πλὴν εἰς ὃ ἐφθάσαμεν τῷ αὐτῷ στοιχεῖν κανόνι, τὸ ἀυτο φρονεῖν 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
3:17 Imitatores mei estote, fratres, et observate eos qui ita ambulant, sicut habetis formam nostram. 3:17 συμμιμηταί μου γίνεσθε ἀδελφοί καὶ σκοπεῖτε τοὺς οὕτως περιπατοῦντας καθὼς ἔχετε τύπον ἡμᾶς 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
3:18 Multi enim ambulant, quos sæpe dicebam vobis (nunc autem et flens dico) inimicos crucis Christi: 3:18 πολλοὶ γὰρ περιπατοῦσιν οὓς πολλάκις ἔλεγον ὑμῖν νῦν δὲ καὶ κλαίων λέγω τοὺς ἐχθροὺς τοῦ σταυροῦ τοῦ χριστοῦ 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
3:19 quorum finis interitus: quorum Deus venter est: et gloria in confusione ipsorum, qui terrena sapiunt. 3:19 ὧν τὸ τέλος ἀπώλεια ὧν ὁ θεὸς ἡ κοιλία καὶ ἡ δόξα ἐν τῇ αἰσχύνῃ αὐτῶν οἱ τὰ ἐπίγεια φρονοῦντες 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
Philippians 3:20 Nostra autem conversatio in cælis est: unde etiam Salvatorem exspectamus Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum, Philippians 3:20 ἡμῶν γὰρ τὸ πολίτευμα ἐν οὐρανοῖς ὑπάρχει ἐξ οὗ καὶ σωτῆρα ἀπεκδεχόμεθα κύριον ἰησοῦν χριστόν Philippians 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
3:21 qui reformabit corpus humilitatis nostræ, configuratum corpori claritatis suæ, secundum operationem, qua etiam possit subjicere sibi omnia. 3:21 ὃς μετασχηματίσει τὸ σῶμα τῆς ταπεινώσεως ἡμῶν εἰς τὸ γενέσθαι αὐτὸ σύμμορφον τῷ σώματι τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν τοῦ δύνασθαι αὐτὸν καὶ ὑποτάξαι ἑαὐτῷ τὰ πάντα 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
