ACTS CHAPTER 5
Latin Vulgate | Greek Textus Receptus | English King James |
---|---|---|
Acts 5:1 Vir autem quidam nomine Ananias, cum Saphira uxore suo vendidit agrum, | Acts 5:1 ἀνὴρ δέ τις ἁνανίας ὀνόματι σὺν σαπφείρῃ τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπώλησεν κτῆμα | Acts 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, |
| 5:2 καὶ ἐνοσφίσατο ἀπὸ τῆς τιμῆς συνειδυίας καὶ τῆς γυναικός αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐνέγκας μέρος τι παρὰ τοὺς πόδας τῶν ἀποστόλων ἔθηκεν | 5:2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. |
| 5:3 εἶπεν δὲ πέτρος ἁνανία διατί ἐπλήρωσεν ὁ σατανᾶς τὴν καρδίαν σου ψεύσασθαί σε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον καὶ νοσφίσασθαι ἀπὸ τῆς τιμῆς τοῦ χωρίου | 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? |
5:4 nonne manens tibi manebat, et venundatum in tua erat potestate? quare posuisti in corde tuo hanc rem? non es mentitus hominibus, sed Deo. | 5:4 οὐχὶ μένον σοὶ ἔμενεν καὶ πραθὲν ἐν τῇ σῇ ἐξουσίᾳ ὑπῆρχεν τί ὅτι ἔθου ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ σου τὸ πρᾶγμα τοῦτο οὐκ ἐψεύσω ἀνθρώποις ἀλλὰ τῷ θεῷ | 5:4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. |
| 5:5 ἀκούων δὲ ἁνανίας τοὺς λόγους τούτους πεσὼν ἐξέψυξεν καὶ ἐγένετο φόβος μέγας ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀκούοντας ταῦτα | 5:5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. |
| 5:6 ἀναστάντες δὲ οἱ νεώτεροι συνέστειλαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐξενέγκαντες ἔθαψαν | 5:6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. |
| 5:7 ἐγένετο δὲ ὡς ὡρῶν τριῶν διάστημα καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτοῦ μὴ εἰδυῖα τὸ γεγονὸς εἰσῆλθεν | 5:7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. |
At illa dixit: Etiam tanti. | 5:8 ἀπεκρίθη δὲ αὓτη ὁ πέτρος εἰπέ μοι εἰ τοσούτου τὸ χωρίον ἀπέδοσθε ἡ δὲ εἶπεν ναί τοσούτου | 5:8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. |
| 5:9 ὁ δὲ πέτρος εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτήν τί ὅτι συνεφωνήθη ὑμῖν πειράσαι τὸ πνεῦμα κυρίου ἰδού, οἱ πόδες τῶν θαψάντων τὸν ἄνδρα σου ἐπὶ τῇ θύρᾳ καὶ ἐξοίσουσίν σε | 5:9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. |
| Acts 5:10 ἔπεσεν δὲ παραχρῆμα παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξέψυξεν εἰσελθόντες δὲ οἱ νεανίσκοι εὗρον αὐτὴν νεκράν καὶ ἐξενέγκαντες ἔθαψαν πρὸς τὸν ἄνδρα αὐτῆς | Acts 5:10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. |
5:11 Et factus est timor magnus in universa ecclesia, et in omnes qui audierunt hæc. | 5:11 καὶ ἐγένετο φόβος μέγας ἐφ᾽ ὅλην τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀκούοντας ταῦτα | 5:11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things. |
| 5:12 διὰ δὲ τῶν χειρῶν τῶν ἀποστόλων ἐγένετο σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα ἐν τῷ λαῷ πολλὰ καὶ ἦσαν ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἅπαντες ἐν τῇ στοᾷ σολομῶντος | 5:12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch. |
| 5:13 τῶν δὲ λοιπῶν οὐδεὶς ἐτόλμα κολλᾶσθαι αὐτοῖς ἀλλ᾽ ἐμεγάλυνεν αὐτοὺς ὁ λαός | 5:13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them. |
5:14 Magis autem augebatur credentium in Domino multitudo virorum ac mulierum, | 5:14 μᾶλλον δὲ προσετίθεντο πιστεύοντες τῷ κυρίῳ πλήθη ἀνδρῶν τε καὶ γυναικῶν | 5:14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.) |
| 5:15 ὥστε κατὰ τὰς πλατείας ἐκφέρειν τοὺς ἀσθενεῖς καὶ τιθέναι ἐπὶ κλινῶν καὶ κραββάτων ἵνα ἐρχομένου πέτρου κἂν ἡ σκιὰ ἐπισκιάσῃ τινὶ αὐτῶν | 5:15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. |
| 5:16 συνήρχετο δὲ καὶ τὸ πλῆθος τῶν πέριξ πόλεων εἴς ἰερουσαλήμ φέροντες ἀσθενεῖς καὶ ὀχλουμένους ὑπὸ πνευμάτων ἀκαθάρτων οἵτινες ἐθεραπεύοντο ἅπαντες | 5:16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one. |
5:17 Exsurgens autem princeps sacerdotum, et omnes qui cum illo erant (quæ est hæresis sadducæorum), repleti sunt zelo: | 5:17 ἀναστὰς δὲ ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς καὶ πάντες οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ ἡ οὖσα αἵρεσις τῶν σαδδουκαίων ἐπλήσθησαν ζήλου | 5:17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, |
5:18 et injecerunt manus in Apostolos, et posuerunt eos in custodia publica. | 5:18 καὶ ἐπέβαλον τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀποστόλους καὶ ἔθεντο αὐτοὺς ἐν τηρήσει δημοσίᾳ | 5:18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. |
5:19 Angelus autem Domini per noctem aperiens januas carceris, et educens eos, dixit: | 5:19 ἄγγελος δὲ κυρίου διὰ τῆς νυκτὸς ἤνοιξεν τὰς θύρας τῆς φυλακῆς ἐξαγαγών τε αὐτοὺς εἶπεν | 5:19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, |
Acts 5:20 Ite, et stantes loquimini in templo plebi omnia verba vitæ hujus. | Acts 5:20 πορεύεσθε καὶ σταθέντες λαλεῖτε ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ τῷ λαῷ πάντα τὰ ῥήματα τῆς ζωῆς ταύτης | Acts 5:20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life. |
| 5:21 ἀκούσαντες δὲ εἰσῆλθον ὑπὸ τὸν ὄρθρον εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν καὶ ἐδίδασκον παραγενόμενος δὲ ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς καὶ οἱ σὺν αὐτῷ συνεκάλεσαν τὸ συνέδριον καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γερουσίαν τῶν υἱῶν ἰσραήλ καὶ ἀπέστειλαν εἰς τὸ δεσμωτήριον ἀχθῆναι αὐτούς | 5:21 And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought. |
5:22 Cum autem venissent ministri, et aperto carcere non invenissent illos, reversi nuntiaverunt, | 5:22 οἱ δὲ ὑπηρέται παραγενόμενοι οὐχ εὗρον αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ ἀναστρέψαντες δὲ ἀπήγγειλαν | 5:22 But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told, |
| 5:23 λέγοντες ὅτι τὸ μὲν δεσμωτήριον εὕρομεν κεκλεισμένον ἐν πάσῃ ἀσφαλείᾳ καὶ τοὺς φύλακας ἔξω ἑστῶτας πρὸ τῶν θυρῶν ἀνοίξαντες δὲ ἔσω οὐδένα εὕρομεν | 5:23 Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within. |
| 5:24 ὡς δὲ ἤκουσαν τοὺς λόγους τούτους ὅ τε ἱερεύς καὶ ὅ στρατηγὸς τοῦ ἱεροῦ καὶ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς διηπόρουν περὶ αὐτῶν τί ἂν γένοιτο τοῦτο | 5:24 Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow. |
| 5:25 παραγενόμενος δέ τις ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς λέγων ὅτι ἰδού, οἱ ἄνδρες οὓς ἔθεσθε ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ εἰσὶν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἑστῶτες καὶ διδάσκοντες τὸν λαόν | 5:25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people. |
| 5:26 τότε ἀπελθὼν ὁ στρατηγὸς σὺν τοῖς ὑπηρέταις ἦγαγεν αὐτούς οὐ μετὰ βίας ἐφοβοῦντο γὰρ τὸν λαόν ἵνα μὴ λιθασθῶσιν | 5:26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned. |
5:27 Et cum adduxissent illos, statuerunt in concilio: et interrogavit eos princeps sacerdotum, | 5:27 ἀγαγόντες δὲ αὐτοὺς ἔστησαν ἐν τῷ συνεδρίῳ καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν αὐτοὺς ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς | 5:27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, |
5:28 dicens: Præcipiendo præcepimus vobis ne doceretis in nomine isto, et ecce replestis Jerusalem doctrina vestra: et vultis inducere super nos sanguinem hominis istius. | 5:28 λέγων, οὐ παραγγελίᾳ παρηγγείλαμεν ὑμῖν μὴ διδάσκειν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι τούτῳ καὶ ἰδού, πεπληρώκατε τὴν ἰερουσαλὴμ τῆς διδαχῆς ὑμῶν καὶ βούλεσθε ἐπαγαγεῖν ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς τὸ αἷμα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τούτου | 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. |
| 5:29 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ πέτρος καὶ οἱ ἀπόστολοι εἶπον, πειθαρχεῖν δεῖ θεῷ μᾶλλον ἢ ἀνθρώποις | 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. |
Acts 5:30 Deus patrum nostrorum suscitavit Jesum, quem vos interemistis, suspendentes in ligno. | Acts 5:30 ὁ θεὸς τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἤγειρεν ἰησοῦν ὃν ὑμεῖς διεχειρίσασθε κρεμάσαντες ἐπὶ ξύλου | Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. |
5:31 Hunc principem et salvatorem Deus exaltavit dextera sua ad dandam pœnitentiam Israëli, et remissionem peccatorum: | 5:31 τοῦτον ὁ θεὸς ἀρχηγὸν καὶ σωτῆρα ὕψωσεν τῇ δεξιᾷ αὐτοῦ δοῦναι μετάνοιαν τῷ ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἄφεσιν ἁμαρτιῶν | 5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. |
5:32 et nos sumus testes horum verborum, et Spiritus Sanctus, quem dedit Deus omnibus obedientibus sibi. | 5:32 καὶ ἡμεῖς ἐσμεν αὐτοῦ μάρτυρες τῶν ῥημάτων τούτων καὶ τὸ πνεῦμα δὲ τὸ ἅγιον ὃ ἔδωκεν ὁ θεὸς τοῖς πειθαρχοῦσιν αὐτῷ | 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. |
| 5:33 οἱ δὲ ἀκούσαντες διεπρίοντο καὶ ἐβουλεύοντο ἀνελεῖν αὐτούς | 5:33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them. |
5:34 Surgens autem quidam in concilio pharisæus, nomine Gamaliel, legis doctor, honorabilis universæ plebi, jussit foras ad breve homines fieri, | 5:34 ἀναστὰς δέ τις ἐν τῷ συνεδρίῳ φαρισαῖος ὀνόματι γαμαλιήλ νομοδιδάσκαλος τίμιος παντὶ τῷ λαῷ ἐκέλευσεν ἔξω βραχὺ τί τοὺς ἀποστόλους ποιῆσαι | 5:34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; |
5:35 dixitque ad illos: Viri Israëlitæ, attendite vobis super hominibus istis quid acturi sitis. | 5:35 εἶπέν τε πρὸς αὐτούς ἄνδρες ἰσραηλῖται προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς ἐπὶ τοῖς ἀνθρώποις τούτοις τί μέλλετε πράσσειν | 5:35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men. |
| 5:36 πρὸ γὰρ τούτων τῶν ἡμερῶν ἀνέστη θευδᾶς λέγων εἶναί τινα ἑαυτόν ᾧ προσεκολλήθη ἀριθμὸς ἀνδρῶν ὡσεὶ τετρακοσίων ὃς ἀνῃρέθη καὶ πάντες ὅσοι ἐπείθοντο αὐτῷ διελύθησαν καὶ ἐγένοντο εἰς οὐδέν | 5:36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought. |
| 5:37 μετὰ τοῦτον ἀνέστη ἰούδας ὁ γαλιλαῖος ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τῆς ἀπογραφῆς καὶ ἀπέστησεν λαὸν ἱκανὸν ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ κἀκεῖνος ἀπώλετο καὶ πάντες ὅσοι ἐπείθοντο αὐτῷ διεσκορπίσθησαν | 5:37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed. |
5:38 Et nunc itaque dico vobis, discedite ab hominibus istis, et sinite illos: quoniam si est ex hominibus consilium hoc aut opus, dissolvetur: | 5:38 καὶ τὰ νῦν λέγω ὑμῖν ἀπόστητε ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων τούτων καὶ ἐάσατε αὐτούς ὅτι ἐὰν ᾖ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ἡ βουλὴ αὕτη ἢ τὸ ἔργον τοῦτο καταλυθήσεται | 5:38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: |
| 5:39 εἰ δὲ ἐκ θεοῦ ἐστιν οὐ δύνασθε καταλῦσαι αὐτὸ, μήποτε καὶ θεομάχοι εὑρεθῆτε | 5:39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. |
| Acts 5:40 ἐπείσθησαν δέ αὐτῷ καὶ προσκαλεσάμενοι τοὺς ἀποστόλους δείραντες παρήγγειλαν μὴ λαλεῖν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ ἰησοῦ καὶ ἀπέλυσαν αὐτούς | Acts 5:40 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. |
| 5:41 οἱ μὲν οὖν ἐπορεύοντο χαίροντες ἀπὸ προσώπου τοῦ συνεδρίου ὅτι ὑπὲρ τοῦ ὀνόματος αὐτοῦ κατηξιώθησαν ἀτιμασθῆναι | 5:41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. |
| 5:42 πᾶσάν τε ἡμέραν ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ κατ᾽ οἶκον οὐκ ἐπαύοντο διδάσκοντες καὶ εὐαγγελιζόμενοι ἰησοῦν τὸν χριστόν | 5:42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. |
