JOHN CHAPTER 10

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
John 10:1 ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὁ μὴ εἰσερχόμενος διὰ τῆς θύρας εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τῶν προβάτων ἀλλὰ ἀναβαίνων ἀλλαχόθεν ἐκεῖνος κλέπτης ἐστὶν καὶ λῃστής John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
10:2 ὁ δὲ εἰσερχόμενος διὰ τῆς θύρας ποιμήν ἐστιν τῶν προβάτων 10:2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
10:3 Huic ostiarius aperit, et oves vocem ejus audiunt, et proprias ovas vocat nominatim, et educit eas. 10:3 τούτῳ ὁ θυρωρὸς ἀνοίγει καὶ τὰ πρόβατα τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούει καὶ τὰ ἴδια πρόβατα καλεῖ κατ᾽ ὄνομα καὶ ἐξάγει αὐτά 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
10:4 καὶ ὅταν τὰ ἴδια πρόβατα ἐκβάλῃ ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν πορεύεται καὶ τὰ πρόβατα αὐτῷ ἀκολουθεῖ ὅτι οἴδασιν τὴν φωνὴν αὐτοῦ 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
10:5 ἀλλοτρίῳ δὲ οὐ μὴ ἀκολουθήσωσιν, ἀλλὰ φεύξονται ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ ὅτι οὐκ οἴδασιν τῶν ἀλλοτρίων τὴν φωνήν 10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
10:6 ταύτην τὴν παροιμίαν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐκεῖνοι δὲ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τίνα ἦν ἃ ἐλάλει αὐτοῖς 10:6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
10:7 Dixit ergo eis iterum Jesus: Amen, amen dico vobis, quia ego sum ostium ovium. 10:7 εἶπεν οὖν πάλιν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ θύρα τῶν προβάτων 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
10:8 πάντες ὅσοι πρὸ ἐμοῦ ἦλθον κλέπται εἰσὶν καὶ λῃσταί ἀλλ᾽ οὐκ ἤκουσαν αὐτῶν τὰ πρόβατα 10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
10:9 Ego sum ostium. 10:9 ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ θύρα δι᾽ ἐμοῦ ἐάν τις εἰσέλθῃ σωθήσεται καὶ εἰσελεύσεται καὶ ἐξελεύσεται καὶ νομὴν εὑρήσει 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John 10:10 ὁ κλέπτης οὐκ ἔρχεται εἰ μὴ ἵνα κλέψῃ καὶ θύσῃ καὶ ἀπολέσῃ ἐγὼ ἦλθον ἵνα ζωὴν ἔχωσιν καὶ περισσὸν ἔχωσιν John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
10:11 Ego sum pastor bonus. Bonus pastor animam suam dat pro ovibus suis. 10:11 ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ποιμὴν ὁ καλός ὁ ποιμὴν ὁ καλὸς τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ τίθησιν ὑπὲρ τῶν προβάτων 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
10:12 Mercenarius autem, et qui non est pastor, cujus non sunt oves propriæ, videt lupum venientem, et dimittit oves, et fugit: et lupus rapit, et dispergit oves; 10:12 ὁ μισθωτὸς δὲ, καὶ οὐκ ὢν ποιμήν οὗ οὐκ εἰσιν τὰ πρόβατα ἴδια θεωρεῖ τὸν λύκον ἐρχόμενον καὶ ἀφίησιν τὰ πρόβατα καὶ φεύγει καὶ ὁ λύκος ἁρπάζει αὐτὰ καὶ σκορπίζει τὰ πρόβατα 10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
10:13 ὁ δὲ μισθωτός φεύγει, ὅτι μισθωτὸς ἐστιν καὶ οὐ μέλει αὐτῷ περὶ τῶν προβάτων 10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
10:14 Ego sum pastor bonus: et cognosco meas, et cognoscunt me meæ. 10:14 ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ποιμὴν ὁ καλός καὶ γινώσκω τὰ ἐμὰ καὶ γινώσκομαι ὑπὸ τῶν ἐμῶν 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
10:15 καθὼς γινώσκει με ὁ πατὴρ κἀγὼ γινώσκω τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν ψυχήν μου τίθημι ὑπὲρ τῶν προβάτων 10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
10:16 καὶ ἄλλα πρόβατα ἔχω ἃ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τῆς αὐλῆς ταύτης κἀκεῖνα με δεῖ ἀγαγεῖν καὶ τῆς φωνῆς μου ἀκούσουσιν καὶ γενήσεται μία ποίμνη εἷς ποιμήν 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
10:17 Propterea me diligit Pater: quia ego pono animam meam, ut iterum sumam eam. 10:17 διὰ τοῦτό ὁ πατὴρ με ἀγαπᾷ ὅτι ἐγὼ τίθημι τὴν ψυχήν μου ἵνα πάλιν λάβω αὐτήν 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
10:18 Nemo tollit eam a me: sed ego pono eam a meipso, et potestatem habeo ponendi eam, et potestatem habeo iterum sumendi eam. Hoc mandatum accepi a Patre meo. 10:18 οὐδεὶς αἴρει αὐτὴν ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ ἀλλ᾽ ἐγὼ τίθημι αὐτὴν ἀπ᾽ ἐμαυτοῦ ἐξουσίαν ἔχω θεῖναι αὐτήν καὶ ἐξουσίαν ἔχω πάλιν λαβεῖν αὐτήν ταύτην τὴν ἐντολὴν ἔλαβον παρὰ τοῦ πατρός μου 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
10:19 σχίσμα οὖν πάλιν ἐγένετο ἐν τοῖς ἰουδαίοις διὰ τοὺς λόγους τούτους 10:19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
John 10:20 ἔλεγον δὲ πολλοὶ ἐξ αὐτῶν δαιμόνιον ἔχει καὶ μαίνεται τί αὐτοῦ ἀκούετε John 10:20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
10:21 Alii dicebant: Hæc verba non sunt dæmonium habentis: numquid dæmonium potest cæcorum oculos aperire? 10:21 ἄλλοι ἔλεγον ταῦτα τὰ ῥήματα οὐκ ἔστιν δαιμονιζομένου μὴ δαιμόνιον δύναται τυφλῶν ὀφθαλμοὺς ἀνοίγειν 10:21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
10:22 ἐγένετο δὲ τὰ ἐγκαίνια ἐν τοῖς ἱεροσολύμοις καὶ χειμὼν ἦν 10:22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
10:23 Et ambulabat Jesus in templo, in porticu Salomonis. 10:23 καὶ περιεπάτει ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἐν τῇ στοᾷ τοῦ σολομῶντος 10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
10:24 Circumdederunt ergo eum Judæi, et dicebant ei: Quousque animam nostram tollis? si tu es Christus, dic nobis palam. 10:24 ἐκύκλωσαν οὖν αὐτὸν οἱ ἰουδαῖοι καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ ἕως πότε τὴν ψυχὴν ἡμῶν αἴρεις εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ χριστός εἰπὲ ἡμῖν παῤῥησίᾳ 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
10:25 Respondit eis Jesus: Loquor vobis, et non creditis: opera quæ ego facio in nomine Patris mei, hæc testimonium perhibent de me: 10:25 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπον ὑμῖν καὶ οὐ πιστεύετε τὰ ἔργα ἃ ἐγὼ ποιῶ ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ πατρός μου ταῦτα μαρτυρεῖ περὶ ἐμοῦ 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
10:26 ἀλλ᾽ ὑμεῖς οὐ πιστεύετε οὐ γὰρ ἐστὲ ἐκ τῶν προβάτων τῶν ἐμῶν καθὼς εἶπον ὑμῖν 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
10:27 Oves meæ vocem meam audiunt, et ego cognosco eas, et sequuntur me: 10:27 τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἐμὰ τῆς φωνῆς μου ἀκούει, κἀγὼ γινώσκω αὐτά καὶ ἀκολουθοῦσίν μοι 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
10:28 et ego vitam æternam do eis, et non peribunt in æternum, et non rapiet eas quisquam de manu mea. 10:28 κἀγὼ ζωὴν αἰώνιον δίδωμι αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀπόλωνται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ οὐχ ἁρπάσει τις αὐτὰ ἐκ τῆς χειρός μου 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
10:29 ὁ πατήρ μου ὃς δέδωκέν μοι μεῖζών πάντων ἐστιν καὶ οὐδεὶς δύναται ἁρπάζειν ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ πατρός μου 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
John 10:30 Ego et Pater unum sumus. John 10:30 ἐγὼ καὶ ὁ πατὴρ ἕν ἐσμεν John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
10:31 Sustulerunt ergo lapides Judæi, ut lapidarent eum. 10:31 ἐβάστασαν οὖν πάλιν λίθους οἱ ἰουδαῖοι ἵνα λιθάσωσιν αὐτόν 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
10:32 Respondit eis Jesus: Multa bona opera ostendi vobis ex Patre meo: propter quod eorum opus me lapidatis? 10:32 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς πολλὰ καλὰ ἔργα ἔδειξα ὑμῖν ἐκ τοῦ πατρός μου διὰ ποῖον αὐτῶν ἔργον λιθάζετε μὲ 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
10:33 ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ οἱ ἰουδαῖοι λέγοντες, περὶ καλοῦ ἔργου οὐ λιθάζομέν σε ἀλλὰ περὶ βλασφημίας καὶ ὅτι σὺ ἄνθρωπος ὢν ποιεῖς σεαυτὸν θεόν 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
10:34 Respondit eis Jesus: Nonne scriptum est in lege vestra, Quia ego dixi: Dii estis? 10:34 ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς οὐκ ἔστιν γεγραμμένον ἐν τῷ νόμῳ ὑμῶν ἐγὼ εἶπα θεοί ἐστε 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
10:35 Si illos dixit deos, ad quos sermo Dei factus est, et non potest solvi Scriptura: 10:35 εἰ ἐκείνους εἶπεν θεοὺς πρὸς οὓς ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ ἐγένετο καὶ οὐ δύναται λυθῆναι ἡ γραφή 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
10:36 quem Pater sanctificavit, et misit in mundum vos dicitis: Quia blasphemas, quia dixi: Filius Dei sum? 10:36 ὃν ὁ πατὴρ ἡγίασεν καὶ ἀπέστειλεν εἰς τὸν κόσμον ὑμεῖς λέγετε ὅτι βλασφημεῖς ὅτι εἶπον Υἱὸς τοῦ θεοῦ εἰμι 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
10:37 εἰ οὐ ποιῶ τὰ ἔργα τοῦ πατρός μου μὴ πιστεύετέ μοι 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
10:38 εἰ δὲ ποιῶ κἂν ἐμοὶ μὴ πιστεύητε τοῖς ἔργοις πιστεύσατε ἵνα γνῶτε καὶ πιστεύσητε ὅτι ἐν ἐμοὶ ὁ πατὴρ κἀγὼ ἐν αὐτῷ 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
10:39 ἐζήτουν οὖν πάλιν αὐτὸν πιάσαι καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐκ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῶν 10:39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
John 10:40 Et abiit iterum trans Jordanem, in eum locum ubi erat Joannes baptizans primum, et mansit illic; John 10:40 καὶ ἀπῆλθεν πάλιν πέραν τοῦ ἰορδάνου εἰς τὸν τόπον ὅπου ἦν ἰωάννης τὸ πρῶτον βαπτίζων καὶ ἔμεινεν ἐκεῖ John 10:40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
10:41 καὶ πολλοὶ ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔλεγον ὅτι ἰωάννης μὲν σημεῖον ἐποίησεν οὐδέν πάντα δὲ ὅσα εἶπεν ἰωάννης περὶ τούτου ἀληθῆ ἦν 10:41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
10:42 Et multi crediderunt in eum. 10:42 καὶ ἐπίστευσαν πολλοὶ ἐκεῖ εἰς αὐτὸν 10:42 And many believed on him there.
