JOHN CHAPTER 21

Latin VulgateGreek Textus ReceptusEnglish King James
Manifestavit autem sic: John 21:1 μετὰ ταῦτα ἐφανέρωσεν ἑαυτὸν πάλιν ὁ ἰησοῦς τοῖς μαθηταῖς ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης τῆς τιβεριάδος ἐφανέρωσεν δὲ οὕτως John 21:1 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.
21:2 ἦσαν ὁμοῦ σίμων πέτρος καὶ θωμᾶς ὁ λεγόμενος δίδυμος καὶ ναθαναὴλ ὁ ἀπὸ κανὰ τῆς γαλιλαίας καὶ οἱ τοῦ ζεβεδαίου καὶ ἄλλοι ἐκ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ δύο 21:2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
21:3 Dicit eis Simon Petrus: Vado piscari. Dicunt ei: Venimus et nos tecum. Et exierunt, et ascenderunt in navim: et illa nocte nihil prendiderunt. 21:3 λέγει αὐτοῖς σίμων πέτρος ὑπάγω ἁλιεύειν λέγουσιν αὐτῷ ἐρχόμεθα καὶ ἡμεῖς σὺν σοί ἐξῆλθον καὶ ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον εὐθὺς, καὶ ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ νυκτὶ ἐπίασαν οὐδέν 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
21:4 πρωΐας δὲ ἤδη γενομένης ἔστη ὁ ἰησοῦς εἰς τὸν αἰγιαλόν οὐ μέντοι ᾔδεισαν οἱ μαθηταὶ ὅτι ἰησοῦς ἐστιν 21:4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
21:5 Dixit ergo eis Jesus: Pueri, numquid pulmentarium habetis? Responderunt ei: Non. 21:5 λέγει οὖν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς παιδία μή τι προσφάγιον ἔχετε ἀπεκρίθησαν αὐτῷ οὔ 21:5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
21:6 ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς βάλετε εἰς τὰ δεξιὰ μέρη τοῦ πλοίου τὸ δίκτυον καὶ εὑρήσετε ἔβαλον οὖν καὶ οὐκ ἔτι αὐτὸ ἑλκύσαι ἴσχυσαν ἀπὸ τοῦ πλήθους τῶν ἰχθύων 21:6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
21:7 λέγει οὖν ὁ μαθητὴς ἐκεῖνος ὃν ἠγάπα ὁ ἰησοῦς τῷ πέτρῳ ὁ κύριός ἐστιν σίμων οὖν πέτρος ἀκούσας ὅτι ὁ κύριός ἐστιν τὸν ἐπενδύτην διεζώσατο ἦν γὰρ γυμνός καὶ ἔβαλεν ἑαυτὸν εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
21:8 οἱ δὲ ἄλλοι μαθηταὶ τῷ πλοιαρίῳ ἦλθον οὐ γὰρ ἦσαν μακρὰν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἀλλ᾽ ὡς ἀπὸ πηχῶν διακοσίων σύροντες τὸ δίκτυον τῶν ἰχθύων 21:8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.
21:9 ὡς οὖν ἀπέβησαν εἰς τὴν γῆν βλέπουσιν ἀνθρακιὰν κειμένην καὶ ὀψάριον ἐπικείμενον καὶ ἄρτον 21:9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.
John 21:10 Dicit eis Jesus: Afferte de piscibus, quos prendidistis nunc. John 21:10 λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐνέγκατε ἀπὸ τῶν ὀψαρίων ὧν ἐπιάσατε νῦν John 21:10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.
21:11 ἀνέβη σίμων πέτρος καὶ εἵλκυσεν τὸ δίκτυον ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, μεστὸν ἰχθύων μεγάλων ἑκατὸν πεντηκοντατριῶν καὶ τοσούτων ὄντων οὐκ ἐσχίσθη τὸ δίκτυον 21:11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
21:12 Dicit eis Jesus: Venite, prandete. 21:12 λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς δεῦτε ἀριστήσατε οὐδεὶς δὲ ἐτόλμα τῶν μαθητῶν ἐξετάσαι αὐτόν σὺ τίς εἶ εἰδότες ὅτι ὁ κύριός ἐστιν 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
21:13 Et venit Jesus, et accipit panem, et dat eis, et piscem similiter. 21:13 ἔρχεται οὖν ὁ ἰησοῦς καὶ λαμβάνει τὸν ἄρτον καὶ δίδωσιν αὐτοῖς καὶ τὸ ὀψάριον ὁμοίως 21:13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.
21:14 τοῦτο ἤδη τρίτον ἐφανερώθη ὁ ἰησοῦς τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, ἐγερθεὶς ἐκ νεκρῶν 21:14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
21:15 Cum ergo prandissent, dicit Simoni Petro Jesus: Simon Joannis, diligis me plus his? Dicit ei: Etiam Domine, tu scis quia amo te. Dicit ei: Pasce agnos meos. 21:15 ὅτε οὖν ἠρίστησαν λέγει τῷ σίμωνι πέτρῳ ὁ ἰησοῦς σίμων ἰωνᾶ, ἀγαπᾷς με πλεῖόν τούτων λέγει αὐτῷ ναί κύριε σὺ οἶδας ὅτι φιλῶ σε λέγει αὐτῷ βόσκε τὰ ἀρνία μου 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
21:16 Dicit ei iterum: Simon Joannis, diligis me? Ait illi: Etiam Domine, tu scis quia amo te. Dicit ei: Pasce agnos meos. 21:16 λέγει αὐτῷ πάλιν δεύτερον σίμων ἰωνᾶ ἀγαπᾷς με λέγει αὐτῷ ναί κύριε σὺ οἶδας ὅτι φιλῶ σε λέγει αὐτῷ ποίμαινε τὰ πρόβατά μου 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
21:17 Dicit ei tertio: Simon Joannis, amas me? Contristatus est Petrus, quia dixit ei tertio: Amas me? et dixit ei: Domine, tu omnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te. Dixit ei: Pasce oves meas. 21:17 λέγει αὐτῷ τὸ τρίτον σίμων ἰωνᾶ, φιλεῖς με ἐλυπήθη ὁ πέτρος ὅτι εἶπεν αὐτῷ τὸ τρίτον φιλεῖς με καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ κύριε σὺ πάντα οἶδας σὺ γινώσκεις ὅτι φιλῶ σε λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ ἰησοῦς βόσκε τὰ πρόβατά μου 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
21:18 ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω σοι ὅτε ἦς νεώτερος ἐζώννυες σεαυτὸν καὶ περιεπάτεις ὅπου ἤθελες ὅταν δὲ γηράσῃς ἐκτενεῖς τὰς χεῖράς σου καὶ ἄλλος σε ζώσει καὶ οἴσει ὅπου οὐ θέλεις 21:18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
Et cum hoc dixisset, dicit ei: Sequere me. 21:19 τοῦτο δὲ εἶπεν σημαίνων ποίῳ θανάτῳ δοξάσει τὸν θεόν καὶ τοῦτο εἰπὼν λέγει αὐτῷ ἀκολούθει μοι 21:19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
John 21:20 ἐπιστραφεὶς δέ ὁ πέτρος βλέπει τὸν μαθητὴν ὃν ἠγάπα ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀκολουθοῦντα ὃς καὶ ἀνέπεσεν ἐν τῷ δείπνῳ ἐπὶ τὸ στῆθος αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν κύριε τίς ἐστιν ὁ παραδιδούς σε John 21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
21:21 τοῦτον ἰδὼν ὁ πέτρος λέγει τῷ ἰησοῦ κύριε οὗτος δὲ τί 21:21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
21:22 Dicit ei Jesus: Sic eum volo manere donec veniam, quid ad te? tu me sequere. 21:22 λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐὰν αὐτὸν θέλω μένειν ἕως ἔρχομαι τί πρὸς σέ σύ ἀκολούθει μοι 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
Et non dixit ei Jesus: Non moritur, sed: Sic eum volo manere donec veniam, quid ad te? 21:23 ἐξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ λόγος οὗτος εἰς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὅτι ὁ μαθητὴς ἐκεῖνος οὐκ ἀποθνῄσκει καὶ οὐκ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ ἰησοῦς ὅτι οὐκ ἀποθνῄσκει ἀλλ᾽ ἐὰν αὐτὸν θέλω μένειν ἕως ἔρχομαι τί πρὸς σέ 21:23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
21:24 οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ μαθητὴς ὁ μαρτυρῶν περὶ τούτων καὶ γράψας ταῦτα καὶ οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἀληθὴς ἐστίν ἡ μαρτυρία αὐτοῦ 21:24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
21:25 ἔστιν δὲ καὶ ἄλλα πολλὰ ὃσα ἐποίησεν ὁ ἰησοῦς ἅτινα ἐὰν γράφηται καθ᾽ ἕν οὐδὲ αὐτὸν οἶμαι τὸν κόσμον χωρῆσαι τὰ γραφόμενα βιβλία ἀμήν 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
