Introduction 2.1

This is a thorough Greek word study about the Greek word ἅγιος, 'hagios' meaning 'holy' or 'saints' (Strong's 40). It gives every verse where the word 'hagios' appears in the New Testament. To obtain a true understanding of this word these scriptures need to be meditated on and notes made of their meaning in different contexts. This requires putting scriptures together where they seem to have a similar meaning, and then meditating even more. The truth will be revealed by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to guide us into all truth (John 16:13). Wherever this word hagios appears in the Greek, the translation of it is highlighted with yellow. In Greek the suffixes and some prepositions are not added to the basic word to enhance the meaning, except for case endings, so the associated suffix or preposition has not been included in highlighted text. Every blessing be to those who seek the truth of God's word.

Jude 1:20 But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

Revelation 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things says he who is holy, he who is true, he who has the key of David, he who opens, and no man shuts, and shuts and no man opens;
4:8 And the four living creatures, each one of them had in number six wings, were full of eyes around and within; and they do not rest day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.
5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having harps, and golden bowls full of incenses, which are the prayers of saints.
6:10 And they were crying with a loud voice, saying, Until when, O Lord, holy and true, do you not judge and avenge our blood by those who dwell on the earth?
8:3 And another angel came, who had a golden censer, and he was standing at the altar; and much incense was given to him, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar before the throne.
8:4 And the smoke of the incense went up before God with the prayers of the saints out of the hand of the angel.
11:2 But put aside the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it; for it has been given to the Gentiles; and they shall trample on the holy city for forty two months.
11:18 And the nations were angry, and your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and to give the reward to your servants, the prophets, and the saints, and those who fear your name, small and great; and to ruin those who ruin the earth.
13:7 And it was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and authority was given to him over every tribe, and tongue, and nation.
13:10 If anyone leads into captivity; he is led into captivity. If anyone will kill with a sword; it is necessary for him to be killed with the sword. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.
14:10 He shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which has been mixed undiluted in the cup of his anger; and he shall be tormented with fire and sulphur in front of the holy angels, and in front of the Lamb:
14:12 Here is the endurance of the saints: here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
15:3 And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are your works, Lord God Almighty; your ways are righteous and true, King of saints.
16:5 And I heard the angel of the waters saying, You are righteous, O Lord, who is, and who was, and who is holy, because you have judged thus.
16:6 For they poured out the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
17:6 And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marvelled with a great marvel.
18:20 Rejoice over her, O heaven, and holy apostles and prophets; for God has judged your judgement upon her.
18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain upon the earth.
19:8 And it was given to her that she should be clothed in fine linen, clean and bright: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of saints.
20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. The second death has no authority over these, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
20:9 And they went up on the width of the earth, and encircled the camp of the saints, even the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
21:2 And I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit onto a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
22:6 And he said to me, These words are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show to his servants what is necessary to come to pass quickly.
22:11 He who is unrighteous, let him be unrighteous still: and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he who is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he who is holy, let him be holy still.
22:19 And if anyone shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the book of life, and out of the holy city and the things which are written in this book.
